Support for the City's Legal Appeal and Legislative Strategy
Message:
Dear Mayor Turnbull and Members of City Council,
I’m writing to express my strong support for the city’s two-pronged approach to protecting downtown Northville - both the legal appeal and the legislative initiative at the state level.
Our downtown street closures and on-street dining have transformed Northville into a welcoming destination where families gather, neighbors connect, and local businesses thrive. Nearly 75% of residents surveyed supported some form of street closure, and the $3.3 million Town Square refresh shows the city is investing in this vision for the long term.
I’m encouraged to see Council taking multiple paths on this - pursuing the legal appeal while also working toward a legislative fix. Together, these efforts give Northville the best chance at long-term authority to make local decisions about local streets. I’m also glad this work is community-funded through voluntary contributions, not taxpayer dollars.
Thank you for your leadership in defending our downtown on multiple fronts. I urge Council to stay the course.
Sincerely,
